Back out in the field

Year 10 Geographers undertaking field work on Swanage Beach

Some of our Year 10 Geography students have been out on their physical fieldwork this week, accompanied by Miss Barry and Mr Keen who were very impressed with everyone's hard work. This is a compulsory element of their Paper 3 exam towards their GCSE. They completed beach profiles and groyne profiles to investigate their enquiry question ‘how effective are the coastal management strategies in Swanage Bay?’

At The Swanage School we are proud of the amount of fieldwork and trips we offer but clearly the Summer Term school closure and continuing pandemic restrictions have had an effect on trips this year, and so it is great to see students able to once again enhance their learning by experience back out in the field!
