Get Involved

Swanage is a rich environment in which to learn, from the geology of the landscape to the skills, crafts and expertise of local people.

The school uses every opportunity to work with the people and businesses of Swanage. Likewise, the school supports the community e.g. by enabling students to become volunteers and by offering value-for-money facilities on site.

All students have the opportunity to be actively involved in the community through extracurricular activities.  It is also an expectation that students take part in service to the community.

We would like to invite you to suggest ideas for your involvement in the school in three ways:

  1. Extracurricular activities you can provide within the school or out in the community. For example, arts and crafts workshops, local trade master classes, practical seminars in your area of expertise, sports coaching and training.

  2. Opportunities for service to the community you could offer to students. For example, voluntary work, vocational placements, focus days to help with a specific community project.

  3. Inspirational talks you could offer to give to students drawing on your area of expertise or experiences.

Make a Donation

Donations and support in kind help us to provide additional facilities that normal education funding would not be expected to cover.

If you would like to discuss your donation, offer a donation in kind, or to donate specific equipment or services, please contact us by calling Business Manager Andrew Thomas on 01929 500599, or by emailing at andrewthomas@theswanageschool.co.uk

All donations, however small, will be gratefully received.

Charitable status

Like many schools, academies and universities, The Swanage School is an 'exempt' charity – one that does not need to register with the Charity Commission but otherwise enjoys all the benefits of a charity and is subject to all charitable laws and regulations.

More information on the charitable status of academies is available on the Charity Commission website here.
