Choosing your options

Choosing which subjects to study for GCSEs can be a daunting prospect at the best of times. By asking those in Year 9 to choose their options before Easter, we are able to reduce the stress and workload of studying subjects in the Summer Term that they do not intend to take in Years 10 & 11 and instead ease them into the subjects they will be taking.

Many students will already have a clear idea of the subjects they want to study for GCSE, others less so. Either way, we are here to help and to guide students through the process.

Our guide for students is below.

Step 1: Work your way through the options booklet (link below)

Options Booklet 2020

This will help you:

  • identify your strengths and preferences
  • understand the curriculum and assessment requirements for each subject
  • understand which combination of subjects is possible
  • whittle down your choices until you have the best combination for you
  • understand that we will do our very best to accommodate your first choices, but why very occasionally we have to ask students to accept a back-up choice

Step 2: Talk to your teachers if you have any questions or would like more information

We look forward to discussing your option choices with you and/or your parents. Please do get in touch if you have any questions or concerns, no matter how trivial they may seem.

Step 3: Complete the online form by the deadline

Please click here to be directed to our on-line option choice form. If you are unable to submit your choices this way for any reason please get in touch with the School Office without delay and they will help you. Either way, ensure you meet the deadline to enable us to get groups organised ready for delivery very soon after Easter.
