Admissions for September 2018

Applications for a school place for Year 7 starting in September 2018 were made during September/October using Dorset County Council's application form at http://www.dorsetforyou.com/school-admissions/apply-for-a-school-place 

DCC are co-ordinating all applications as part of the general admissions process for September 2018, and parents/carers should expect to receive an offer letter in late February or early March 2018.

In Year & Transfer Applications

To apply to transfer from another school during the school year, please e-mail info@theswanageschool.co.uk, telephone the school office on 01929 500599 or call in at the school office. We will have a chat with you to understand the reasons why you would like to change schools and will ask you to fill in our application form. We will then consider your application as quickly as we can and write to you.

Appeals Process

If you have received written notification that your child has been refused a place at The Swanage School you can appeal to an appeal panel by writing to:

For appeals relating to offer letters sent out on or before 2 March 2016, the timetable for appeals is:

  • Deadline for lodging appeals: 20 April 2016.
  • Appellants will be sent notification of their appeal hearing at least 10 clear school days in advance of the hearing.
  • Appellants will be sent a copy of the school's case seven clear working days in advance of the hearing.
  • Appeals to be heard by 19 June 2016 (40 school days after the deadline for lodging appeals).

For admissions at other times of the year, appeal hearings will take place as soon as is practicable, within 30 school days of receiving the appeal form.
